I have responded to several folks "off air". For those interested, let me know, and I will send the full response. But I thought the following short comment is appropriate for the list.
In response to Michael's Quicktime post. I must speak up in support of Quicktime. I wholly disagree with Lance that "Quicktime is plagued with a number of serious problems too long to go into on this list". Michael's Quicktime problem is a simple one. It sounds like he is using FCP 6 because in FCP 7 there is no "Export to Compressor" except through "Share" which is for button pushers and is problematic. The best way to export from a FCP sequence is, and has always been, to Export to Quicktime Movie using current settings, (the sequence "compressor" setting). After sending the exported movie to Compressor, it can then do its work in the background utilizing multiple processor cores to transcode the movie into any format you can imagine. Updating to OS10.6 will solve you gamma problems since the new OS supports 2.2 native gamma.
